Schoolwide Enrichment Model
Schoolwide Enrichment Model is based on Joseph Renzulli’s Three Ring Conception of Giftedness (Enrichment Triad), which involves “three basic clusters of human traits – above average ability, high level of task commitment, and high levels of creativity” (Renzulli, 2010). Participation in enrichment opportunities takes into account not only standardized test scores, but also general classroom performance, frequent formative assessments, and teacher recommendation. Any student who is exceeding grade level expectations in any area at any time during the school year might be eligible for enrichment opportunities. “The goal is not to certify some students as “gifted” and others as “non-gifted,” but to provide every student with the opportunities, resources, and encouragement necessary to achieve his or her maximum potential.” (Renzulli & Reis, 2001).
